CD Album Review Sonido Ideal - Que Viva Sonido Ideal - October 2009 |
Sonido Ideal
Que Viva Sonido Ideal
Charanga is a style of Latin dance music that has been fading in past years. The combination of the Violin and the Flute make this sound very unique and the tempo very smooth. There is a very small community of dancers and Latin music aficionados in the Latin community that are extremely fond of this style of Latin dance music. Some of the bands to name a few (Orquesta Broadway, Charanga America, Charanga All-stars and Son Sublime), and some more that I did not name are swamped to swelling crowds of Charanga lovers wanting to hear their wonderful sounds. Tipica Ideal who made some serious noise back in the early 70’s is back. Now using the name “Sonido Ideal”, under the leadership of master Pianist Gilberto Suarez & co leader Mike Amitin has just released a new album titled “Que Viva Sonido Ideal”. This album is definitely a pleasant surprise. My favorites are “Para Bailar y Gozar”, “Ja Ja Ja”, “El Cuarto De Tula” and El Bajista” to name a few. This project definitely has Hugh potential. The dancers will just love it. The Charanga dancers are sure to love it. You can get a copy of this CD at “Casa Latina Music Store, which is located at 116th street between 3rd & Lexington avenues.
